Katja Bürkle


Katja Bürkle, born in Stuttgart in 1978, studied drama at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. In 2000 she had her first permanent engagement at the Staatstheater Stuttgart. There she worked with directors such as Stephan Kimmig, Karin Henkel, Roger Vontobel, Volker Lösch, Friederike Heller, Jossi Wieler, Sebastian Nübling, Johan Simons and René Pollesch. In 2002 she was elected “Emerging Actress of the Year” in the critics’ survey of the magazine “Theater heute”.

Since the 2008/09 season Katja Bürkle has been a member of the Münchner Kammerspiele ensemble, where she appeared in “Rechnitz (Der Würgeengel)” (directed by Jossi Wieler, 2008), “Macbeth” (directed by Karin Henkel, 2011), “Gasoline Bill” (directed by René Pollesch, 2013) as well as in “Totally Happy” (directed by Tian Gebing, 2014), and other plays. Currently she performs in the staging of “Jagdszenen aus Niederbayern” (directed by Martin Kušej, 2015). In addition to her theatrical work, Katja Bürkle regularly participates in film and television productions.
