EMPOWERMENT WORKSHOP FOR BLACK WOMEN AND WOMEN OF COLOR WITH DR. STACIE CC GRAHAM / PLEASE REGISTER
When enough is enough
The word diversity has become trendy even in Germany. But most people mean, specifically, gender diversity when they refer to diversity. As Black women and women of color our specific experiences are, however, not fully encompassed when speaking about gender diversity. Not even when speaking of racism. The lack of an understanding of how our intersecting identities (ability, age, gender, race, sexuality, etc.) affect how we are perceived can be the source of great strain and stress at our workplaces.
"Minor" offences, such as unwanted attention or unsolicited commentary, as well as outright bullying are a part of our daily experiences at work. We encounter conflict with direct reports, peers and supervisors. In this workshop, we will discuss tools and strategies of approaching workplace harassment. You will have the opportunity to discuss real life challenges with which you are confronted at work as well as how to set, communicate and enforce boundaries. Sexist and racist behavior are common at work, but that doesn't mean we don't have a choice in confronting it.
Please respect that this workshop is a safer space specifically for Black women and women of colour.
