Word Up - global music production

According to official figures, there are approximately 38,000 Turkish and 27,000 Greek citizens living in Munich. It is assumed that 8-9% of the city’s population has a Turkish or Greek background. Based on the production Biz - Wir - εμείς, you will mix and sample Greek, Turkish and global sounds in this two-day workshop and write your own lyrics with the help of professional musicians and rappers.
Be inspired by the two beat producers Momo Novus and Karim Shalaby, the composer and pianist Sinem Altan, the bouzouki player Nikos Papadopulos, the rapper Waseem, the singer Begüm Tüzemen, the rapper Gündalein and other guests.
You will get to know the Refugio Kunstwerkstatt, the band Vue Belle and the Bellevue Rap Academy with Gündalein. We will also eat together and go to the theater to see the play: Biz - We - εμείς - a musical play about Turkish-Greek friendship.

In cooperation with Bezirksjugendring Oberbayern, Kreisjugendring München-Stadt, Kreisjugendring Ebersberg, Mikado UmDieWelt, Refugio Kunstwerkstatt, AusArten and Bellevue di Monaco.

Due to the traumatic situation in Turkey and Syria caused by the earthquakes the Gig by HEY!Douglas at Import Export on February 16 has been canceled.

This is his statement:

The twin earthquake which occured in the southeast of Turkey on Monday, 6 February, has caused damage and destruction on a massive scale; the dimension of the tragedy is beyond imagination.

Dozens of thousands of people have lost their lives, dozens of cities have crumbled and billions of people are left without a home on both sides of the border with Syria.

We are overwhelmed with GRIEF, RAGE, and DESPAIR. The catastrophe has caused massive damage with very long-term physical, psychological, social, and economic effects.

We are standing at the ready for the next stage, where we will start wrapping the wounds using the healing power of music but it is too early yet.

We are looking forward to brighter and joyful days where we will meet.
