The exhibition explores the political potential of queer nail art. What role does nail art play in queer body practices, for example in nails that function as queer codes? How do queer community and intimacy form in the mutual creation and design of nails? Come by for queer history and queer joy!

The exhibition is curated by Regine Eurydike Hader, cultural scientist and PhD student in art history. She works as a curator, has been with QFFM since 2020, writes for Missy Magazine, and works as a feminist and queer art educator for the Pinakothek der Moderne. Her work explores resistance, excess, and contemporary queer aesthetics.

The exhibition will be on view from 11-15 October during kiosk hours (Tue-Fri 14:00-20:00), as well as on Sunday 15 October, from 14:00 to 19:00.

OPENING

For the opening of the exhibition on 11.10. Thams does Claws will perform the interactive performance “Object of Love”: Exhibition visitors are invited to present Thams an object, photo, poem, song, or the like that means a lot to them. Thams asks them about the meaning and develops a nail design from it on the visitors’ nails.

Thams is a trans* nail artist from Berlin, creates in their work a safe space for the queer community.
