Tuncay Acar talks to Akther Jahan Khan about her commitment to family sports and her journey from highly qualified expat to a committed Munich resident.

Akther Jahan Khan comes from India, has lived in Munich since 2014 and considers Munich her home. She has a German Master of Business Administration and works as a transversal project manager. However, as a licensed trainer, her heart beats for sport. When she came to Germany, she also brought her passion for fitness and cricket with her. However, she found that it was very difficult for her to find like-minded people - especially women - with whom she could share her enthusiasm. In addition, many women around her suffered from depression or social isolation. So she took the initiative and founded a sports initiative for women and children, bringing women together to do fitness and play cricket. As most of them had children and it was not easy for them to find a leisure activity, she quickly put together a training program for women and children. She currently plays cricket herself in the national league and has also been able to activate 35-40 youngsters who play in various regional leagues depending on their age group. Akther Khan organizes her training for women & children every weekend.
“Promoting women’s health” through sport goes beyond physical fitness; it’s about empowerment, community and breaking down barriers. “I am passionate about connecting and motivating women in Bavaria through sport to build a stronger, more inclusive community. By closing gaps and fostering understanding between communities, we can create a more harmonious and supportive environment for all,” says Khan.
