This episode is created by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Helena Niederstraßer (Vandalisbin) and author, visual artist and musician Augusta Laar.

Create percussion patterns with Helena, to which you can experiment with spoken and sung text. Under the name “Vandalisbin” (Vandalism + Lesbian), she publishes songs that deal with queer sexuality, love, violence and self-empowerment and trace the trials and tribulations of her young life.

This time, lyricist, visual artist and musician Augusta Laar is developing the text modules with you. She writes with a love of form, sensitivity and criticism, is, among other things, the director of the International Shame Rock Festival of Women Poets and looks back on many years of experimentation with text and music. Her most recent books of poetry are “Nocturnes - Interventionen” (Vienna 2024) and “Mitteilungen gegen den Schlaf” (Vienna 2021).

Procedure:
After a brief introduction, we divide into two groups. One group will develop text modules together with Augusta Laar, the other with Helena Niederstraßer percussion patterns. After a short break, we will start the jam session together and combine the text and music modules in a free improvisation.

The workshop is free of charge and no previous knowledge is necessary.

You are also welcome to come along later to listen or have a drink.

Limited equipment is available on site, but you are welcome to bring your own device/instrument.

Intimacy Quarterly is a series of events organized by Mira Mann and Daniela Schroll.
