Melis Çom

Melis Çom has been playing the harp since the age of twelve. She studied in Istanbul at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Conservatory and, in 2012/2013, at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München and for a year in Paris at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Boulogne-Billancourt. That year she was also a finalist in the Concours International de Harpe Jeunes Talents Martine Geliot. She lived in Istanbul for a total of ten years, where she gave concerts with orchestras and other ensembles. During this time, she also worked as a harp teacher at the L’Ecole Francophone de Musique d’Istanbul. In 2022 she was awarded the DAAD Prize by the HMTM Munich. She has lived in Munich since 2019 and works as a freelance harpist in the fields of classical music, new music and jazz. As an orchestral harpist, she has already played here with the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich. In her latest project Harp O’clock Concert Series, she explores the combination of harp with electronics, improvisation and a wide variety of instrumentations solo or as a duo. Since 2022 she has a position as a teacher for harp and piano at the Pullach Music School.
