Abathar Kmash

Abathar Kmash studied oud, cello and music education in Damascus. In Syria, he contributed to the rich musical scene as a cellist in renowned orchestras and as an oud player in various ensembles. Until 2015, Abathar also shaped the musical landscape in As-Suwaida as a teacher and head of the youth department at the local music academy, as well as founding his own music institute. Abathar has been enriching the German music scene since 2016. As an oud teacher and expert in Arabic music theory at the Free Music Institute in Munich and at the Hildesheim University Foundation, he imparts his knowledge and enthusiasm. Abathar Kmash has worked with renowned artists and ensembles such as the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Cottbus State Theater, the Ogaro Ensemble, Martina Eisenreich and Konstantin Wecker. His life reflects a fascinating fusion of cultural influences that resonate in his music.
