Caitlin van der Maas

Caitlin van der Maas first studied theater at ArtEZ, the University of the Arts, in Zwolle, the Netherlands, before moving to Amsterdam to study directing at the Hogeschool voor Kunsten. After an exchange course at the University of Music and Performing Arts Hamburg, she was assistant director to Johan Simons at the Münchner Kammerspiele. Since 2015, Caitlin van der Maas has been working as a freelance director and author for transdisciplinary contemporary music theater. In “The Silent Conductor” (2020), she explored the topic of agenda setting and the Hungarian uprising of 1956 through text and music. “Karl im ALL zu Hause” (2021) deals with digital identity and cultural appropriation in the pop industry. Together with Katrin Diehl, she brings text, music and performance to the stage as the duo “Kaffee & Croissant”. She is a member of the Netzwerk Münchner Theatertexter*innen.
